Kat DeLuna est née dans le Bronx puis a grandi en République Dominicaine.
A l'âge de 9 ans, quand sa famille retourne aux Etats-Unis - dans le New Jersey cette fois - le divorce de ses parents lui donna l'inspiration pour écrire sa première chanson.
Elle commenca a chanter dans des carnavals local et partagea des dates avec des artistes latino très connu comme Milly Quezada et Marc Anthony.
A 14 ans, elle est acceptée à l'école des arts du New Jersey qui ont vu passer de célèbres artistes tels que Savion Glover, Whitney Houston ou Tisha Campbell.
En tant qu'étudiante, elle se présente à des auditions pour montrer son talent.
Puis elle a rejoint un groupe de filles hip-hop/latino nommé Coquette.
Pendant qu'elle travaille avec Coquette, Kat continue de chercher des opportunités qui lui permettrait de devenir une chanteuse renommée.
A 15 ans, elle se rend à une compétition de karaoké et gagne avec sa reprise de "I Will Always Love You".
C'est lors de cette compétition qu'elle rencontre le chanteur de salsa Rey Ruiz qui lui donna quelques conseils.
Son premier single, "Whine Up", sur lequel participe Elephant Man et Ivy Queen, est de plus en plus diffusé sur les ondes américaines.
Ce titre est un coup de coeur qui pourrait être l'un des tubes de cet été, en espérant qu'il arrive en Europe!
Kat DeLuna a sorti son premier album intitulé 9 Lives le 7 août dernié aux Etats-Unis.
